❄️ The Me Shop Expert's Winter Checklist: What You Can Check Yourself
These steps are essential for both your safety and your geyser's lifespan. Before you start, make sure you turn off the geyser's power switch and the main MCB!
1. Set the Right Temperature
1. Set the Right Temperature
What to do: Set your geyser's thermostat (the temperature dial) to 55°C (or the 'Medium' setting).
Why (Expert Advice): Boiling water above 65°C causes 'scaling' (white deposits) to form 10 times faster. This puts a heavy load on the heating element and increases your electricity bill. 55°C is perfect and safe for bathing.
2. Check for Leaks
2. Check for Leaks
What to do: Visually inspect and feel the inlet (cold water) and outlet (hot water) pipes connected to the geyser.
Why (Expert Advice): Even a small drip can be the first sign of tank corrosion (rust). It's crucial to catch this before it causes major damage.
3. Test the Safety Valve (T&P Valve) (Most Important!)
3. Test the Safety Valve (T&P Valve) (Most Important!)
What to do: Your geyser has a small lever (or knob) called the T&P (Temperature & Pressure) valve. Gently lift this lever. A little water should gush out forcefully.
Why (Expert Advice): This is your geyser's 'Safety Airbag.' If the thermostat fails, this valve releases the extra pressure. If this valve is jammed, the geyser can burst (explode) under pressure. It is mandatory to test this once a year.
4. Flush the Tank (If Possible)
4. Flush the Tank (If Possible)
What to do: Completely drain the water from the geyser (only if you know the process).
Why (Expert Advice): In areas with 'hard water' like Delhi NCR, sediment (dirt) settles at the bottom of the tank. This sediment covers the heating element, forcing it to use double the time and double the electricity to heat the water.
💸 Trust Over Price: An Expert's Advice
💸 Trust Over Price: An Expert's Advice
Often, people come to us at the Me Shop India store and ask, "What is the 15 Liter Water Heater Price?" or "Tell me the 25 Liter Water Heater Price."
We always give them the same piece of advice:
"A well-maintained 15-liter geyser is better, cheaper, and lasts longer than a 25-liter geyser with no maintenance."
Whether you're looking at the 35 Liter Water Heater Price or the 50 Liter Water Heater Price, if you aren't getting it serviced annually, you are paying the price of a new geyser every year in your electricity bills.

📞 Where DIY Ends: When to Call a Professional
This checklist is for your safety. But only a professional can reach the "heart" of the geyser. Call us if:
Anode Rod Check: There is a "sacrificial" rod inside the geyser that protects the tank from rusting. If this rod has dissolved, your tank will start to corrode. This must be checked.
Element Cleaning: If the T&P valve test fails or the water isn't heating properly.
Professional Flushing: If you have any doubts about the T&P valve or the flushing process.
